VIA is seeking a temporary Assistant Professor with strong expertise in mathematics didactics for a two-year project position starting on 1 November 2026.
Do you want to generate new scientific insights into adaptive teaching in demographically diverse preschool classrooms—and how Early Childhood Professionals’ (ECPs’) micro-adaptive teaching during Shared Book Reading (SBR) in the mathematics domain supports 4–5-year-olds’ instructional language acquisition, specifically mathematical language? As a postdoc, you will take a key role in the international Denmark–Flanders study, working with video-based observations, IRF-informed interaction coding, stimulated recall interviews, and advanced analyses, and translating findings into international publications and practice-focused dissemination.
The position is based in the Research Centre for Didactics and Pedagogy within the Mathematics Didactics Programme and is affiliated with the project “Adaptive Teaching in Demographically Diverse Preschool Classrooms”, which focuses on:

Terms of employment
This is a fixed-term temporary Assistant Professor position for two years, with an average working time of 37 hours per week.
Depending on your educational background, employment will be in accordance with either the current Overenskomst for akademikere i staten or Fællesoverenskomsten for LC/CO10 og organisationsaftalen for undervisere på erhvervsakademier og professionshøjskoler (LC/CO10’s forhandlingsområde).
